San Miguel de Salinas is a traditional Spanish village with an excellent communications infrastructure for businesses and residential alike, but has a local community feel.
Just inland from the coast (around a 10 minutes’ drive from the harbour at Torrevieja), San Miguel is 100 metres above sea level, perched on the foothills of Mount Calvario. High above the low lying planes of the Salinas (Salt Mines) you can see acres of lemon & orange groves which carpet the land and the salt lakes beyond are home to a variety of bird life.
Between 16th September and 2nd October every year the village holds a huge fiesta, with a varied calendar of events.
San Miguel de Salinas is well equipped for every need, with schools (nursery, primary and secondary, an outstanding international school, and several adult language schools), it has a library, plenty of places to eat and drink, banks, and a Wednesday street market. Close by is the prestigious "La Finca" golf club. This course was completed in 2000 and was designed to host top tournaments. The course has several lakes with running water & reed beds, which only adds to the beauty & difficulty to the game.
